CASTOR IS FRENCH FOR BEAVER from Castor Design on Vimeo.

Take 6 minutes and 42 seconds out of your day to be inspired by these industrial artists / restauranteurs / punk rockers whose high-low design innovations are inciting greatness and mayhem all at once.

A Better WorkspaceMarch 7, 2012

I’m doing research on pieces for an office today and am in love with the NY showroom WYETH. This Edward Wormley for Dunbar desk and chair are gorgeous.

Paired classicsOctober 12, 2011

Pendleton + Jacobsen – what a pair! And what a better way to keep that tush warm as the cold weather creeps in. The Good Mod in Portland, OR, is responsible for this limited edition release (with free shipping!), taking vintage Swan chairs and reupholstering them with Pendleton textiles for a graphic refresher on a mid-century classic.

Speaking of Portland and Pendleton, have you seen their Pendleton’s Portland Collection Fall 2011 Look Book? Rich in color and pattern, it will make you want to curl up by the fire with some hot cocoa.

Tracy’s TrestlesSeptember 12, 2011

Stacking Tracy’s Trestles by studiomama: great for table legs or a perch by the counter. Bonus points for stacking up and keeping slim.

alphabrassJanuary 31, 2011

Ladies & Gentlemen, a Seattle design studio, and I share something in common: we HATE to throw anything away. We like to discover the clever alter egos of, um, stuff. Like these Alphabrass tables made from old lamp parts – genius! And face it, when you throw something away, you’re just trusting someone else to put it somewhere else on this earth for you. (I’m making a mental note now to grab all those ugly brass lamps I see on sidewalks on trash days to make this.) So go root through your parents’ attic or sniff out the local Goodwill to find some goodies. Crack a cold one, put on some tunes, and see what you can create.
